Panelists
Dr. Aimee Ferraro is an epidemiologist with over 20 years of experience conducting inter-disciplinary and mixed-methods research in a variety of public health settings. She holds a dual B.A. in Biology and Psychology from Johns Hopkins University, an M.P.H. from George Washington University, and a Ph.D. in Health and Behavioral Sciences from University of Colorado at Denver. After completing a CDC/CSTE Applied Epidemiology Fellowship with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Dr. Ferraro has been conducting research on infectious and vector-borne diseases internationally. In 2017, she was awarded the Research and Applications in Social Change Grant and named a Fellow of Walden’s Center for Social Change for her study about the socio-ecological factors impacting Zika virus transmission in shantytowns of Lima, Peru.
Cliff Bridges is an award-winning communications and PR leader with significant achievements building and enhancing image, visibility, branding and growth for commercial, non-profit and academic employers and clients in the Americas, Asia and Europe. He has been awarded product patents for hygiene and disaster reliefs products designed specificallyfor refugees and impoverished communities. Cliff is experienced in crisis communications and has worked globally supporting social change that meet the needs of diverse marketplaces and communities and bridge corporate success with global sustainability. He managed corporate and employee communications globally about protocols pertaining to the SARS and H1N1 pandemics.
Dr. Heba Tawfik is a physician and epidemiologist with more than fifteen years of experience as a researcher, epidemiologist and educator. She has worked as a clinical epidemiologist in a variety of areas including infectious disease, cancer, women’s reproductive health and maternal and child health. Dr. Tawfik has ample experience conducting various types of quantitative research and has also been involved in national and international public health projects sponsored by the World Health Organization in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. Dr. Tawfik obtained her medical degree in Egypt and doctoral degree from the renowned Mailman School of Public Health of Columbia University in New York.
Dr. Jennifer Perkins has overtwenty years of experience as a public health practitioner, working with non-profit organizations at the local and national level, as well as governmental health agencies. She received her Ph.D. in Health Studies/Community Health from Texas Woman's University in 2004, and received both her MPH and BS from Indiana University, Bloomington. The majority of Dr. Perkins' practical experience was with Dallas County Health and Human Services where she worked in Public Health Preparedness and Bioterrorism Response. She has been with Walden University since 2009, serving both as full-time faculty and in leadership positions.
Dr. Caramela-Miller, who earned her Ph.D in Developmental Psychology from the University of Akron, serves the field of psychology as a researcher, a professor, a consultant, and a practitioner. Professional areas of specialty include forensic psychology, developmental psychology, lifespan development, cognitive psychology, gerontology, trauma, and loss. Sandra served as an advisor and participant on the White House Advisory Panel for Trauma following the events of September 11th, 2001 (2004).
Dr. Shelli Friess completed her doctorate at Argosy University in Counselor Education and Supervision. Her research interests include artificial intelligence, counselor development and wellness, trauma, and vicarious trauma. Her counselor education experience is strong in crisis response, skill development, vicarious trauma, and field experience.
Dr. Savitri Dixon-Saxon is the Vice Provost for the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. In 2013, Savitri was named a Woman Worth Watching by the Diversity Journal. Since January 2016, Savitri has served as the chair of Walden’s Diversity and Inclusion Working Group. A trained counselor educator, Savitri is a licensed professional counselor in North Carolina and national certified counselor. She is also a graduate of Walden’s Master of Business Administration program.
Dr. Tomekia Luckett is an experienced nurse, and nurse educator. Dr. Luckett has worked as a registered nurse for eighteen years and a nurse educator for eleven. Dr. Luckett earned Doctor of Philosophy degree in nursing leadership from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Dr. William Schulz is currently the Director of Academic Initiatives and the Founding Director of Walden University’s Center for Social Change. He earned a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the University of Georgia, and a Master of Science in Political Science & Public Policy from Indiana University and is an award winning scholar in the fields of strategic management and entrepreneurship.
