Why Does This Matter?

Our goal is that students, faculty, staff, and alumni report an equitable sense of belonging to the Walden community. Walden will enhance its existing “Culture of Care” to strengthen the sense of belonging of its community members in inclusive, accessible, and equitable ways. Together, we can continue to bring the mission of the university to life in so many ways.

Goals

  • Establish a culture which places care and belonging as its north star and empowers team members to act quickly in service to this goal and to all of our community members equitably.
  • Increase opportunities for synchronous engagement with students, alumni, prospective students, faculty, and staff.

2024-2025 Potential Key Activities

  • Execute on transformation initiatives which are responsive to outcomes of the student satisfaction and net promoter score feedback.
  • Continue execution of inclusive Teaching and Learning Strategic Plan.
  • Develop clear metrics to gauge sense of belonging and inclusion in the teaching and learning environment – and establish baseline metrics (for students, staff and faculty).
  • Develop clear position on community of care with respect to “grit”.
  • Reinitiate in-person faculty meetings.
  • Engage faculty with prospective students systematically.
