BUSI 3011 - Leadership Workplace Certificate (5 credits) Effective leadership requires attention to values and ethics, communication, team empowerment, change management, and more. In this course, students assume a leadership position within a fictional organization. Through discussions, assignments, and interactive resources, they build and ultimately apply their skills to meet a career-related challenge. Students have the opportunity to earn a micro-credential in leadership upon successful completion of the course. |
BUSI 3012 - Human Resource Management Workplace Certificate (5 credits) An organization is only as good as its people. Human resource professionals have the responsibility of recruiting, training, motivating, and retaining key workforce talent and are therefore vital to the success of any organization. In this course, students develop skills in HR management that can translate across multiple fields and contexts. They take on the role of an HR professional and apply their skills to meet a career-related challenge for a fictional organization. BUSI 3013 - Project Management Skills Workplace Certificate (5 credits) Project management involves wearing many different hats—from managing time and deliverables, to negotiating, to establishing trust and building relationships with stakeholders. In this course, students “try on” these hats by exploring project management functions and skills. They assume a project management role to solve a career-related challenge using skills they have developed throughout the course. Data is used to inform initiatives, evaluate projects, and spark change on both small and large scales. In this course, students explore how to analyze and leverage quantitative data in a workplace context. Specifically, they take on the role of a data science consultant who must apply their skills to solve a challenge for a fictional organization. BUSI 3019 - Workplace Wellness Workplace Certificate (5 credits) Many workplaces promote “wellness” programs, often sponsored through Human Resources, that may include promotion of health-focused behaviors and activities for employees. In this course, students examine the dimensions of employee health and wellness and how HR plays a critical role in the development of those programs as well as the organizational policies and culture that support them. They assume the role of an HR professional and use their skills to meet a series of career-related challenges to promote employee health and wellness.
