DDPA 8220 - Transformative Practices in Public Administration

Transformative Practices in Public Administration is an applied research course that prepares students to design, implement, and evaluate change-oriented initiatives in public and nonprofit sectors. The course introduces a range of participatory and systems-based approaches, including needs assessment, community-based participatory research (CBPR), action research, implementation science, and program evaluation. Students will also explore systems thinking and the use of logic models to map program theory and guide evaluation strategies. Emphasizing real-world application, the course equips students with tools to engage communities, assess organizational and societal needs, and generate actionable insights that support innovation, equity, and evidence-informed decision-making in public administration.
