EDUC 6086 - Demonstration Teaching in Special Education 1

Demonstration teaching is the culminating experience in the teacher preparation program and is an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills. Candidates participate in orientation activities then gradually assume complete teaching responsibilities of a special education teacher. Candidates take full control for four consecutive weeks over a 12-week placement and gain real-world experience and the opportunity to translate theory into practice. Candidates work closely with and are evaluated by their Walden University supervisor, classroom cooperating teacher, and Walden University faculty member. During Demonstration Teaching, all candidates complete a teacher performance assessment, participate in weekly Discussions, and complete Major Assessments. This course requires a 12-week, full-time classroom experience at a school approved by Walden University.

  • All courses must be completed exception is EDUC 6082
  • EDUC 6082 may be taken concurrently with EDUC 6086
