How to Renew or Upgrade Credentials
Renewal: Educators are required to complete 6 semester credits or 90 contact hours for Renewal of a teacher certificate. Courses must pertain to education to be accepted. The application and additional information can be found in the MEIS online system.
Upgrade: Educators may be eligible for salary increases for coursework and advanced degrees earned within their certification field. Educators should contact their specific school districts for details about salary schedules and requirements. Salary levels are generally in 15 or 30 credit hour increments (ie. BA, BA+15, MA, etc.).
