How to Renew or Upgrade Credentials
Renewal: Educators are required to complete 100 clock hours or equivalent college credits or Professional Growth Plans (PGPs) or a combination of these three options in order to renew a professional teacher certificate every 5 years. Completion of National Board certification is another option for renewal. Some certificate fields and other certificate types have specific requirements that may vary. STEM clock hours are required for some certificate fields. Hours must include 15 equity-based school practices hours as of July 1, 2023
Upgrade: Educators may be eligible for salary increases for graduate degrees earned within their licensure field. Educators should contact their specific school districts for details about salary schedules and requirements.
